All of the following mouthpieces are true copies of original mouthpieces or illustrations thereof (see below). The only variation is that we have altered the diameter and conicity of the shaft in order to fit with our historical trumpets. This is in order to avoid the extra cost of fitting each instrument to the mouthpiece individually. It was possible to do this without altering the original back bore.

Keyed Trumpet Mouthpiece after Andreas Nemetz

This model is a copy of a mouthpiece based on an illustration in the "Allgemeinen Trompetenschule", 1827 ("General Trumpet School") of Andreas Nemetz (1799-1846). It has a bright but not piercing sound and is well suited to use with the keyed trumpet.

Early Classical Trumpet Mouthpiece after Ernst Johann Conrad Haas

The original mouthpiece from which this copy was made was made available by Martin Schmid of Spaeth/Schmid Blechbläsernoten, at the request of Friedemann Immer and Jaroslav Roucek. It was made by Ernst Johann Conrad Haas (instrument maker from 1748 to 1792), the son of Johann Wilhelm Haas. While it is essentally an early Classical mouthpiece, it retains Baroque elements such as the belly cup shape. Because of the unusually large bore, this otherwise small mouthpiece behaves like one with a large cup, and yet Friedemann has said that he has never tried a mouthpiece with such a large bore that nevertheless responded so well in the high register. It is suitable from all kinds of long trumpets and invention trumpets.

Classical Trumpet Mouthpieces after Michael Saurle

The two originals from which these mouthpieces were made are by Michael Saurle (1801-1862), from Munich. We copied them at the suggestion of Jean-François Madeuf and his students at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Both originals have a V-shaped cup, giving them a softer sound. The original of the KSE-4 is currently housed in the Edinburgh University Collection, and is well-suited to high playing, while the original from which the KSB-4 is based is housed in the Musikmuseum in Basel and is especially suited to low playing. The KSE-6 mouthpiece is based on the shape of the originals but has been proportionally reduced. All KS-series mouthpieces are intended for use on Classical trumpets.

Classical Trumpet Mouthpiece after Carl Benjamin Flemming

This mouthpiece of Carl Benjamin Flemming (Dresden, 1792) was copied at the request of Ute Hartwich and Henry Moderlak. The original is presently in the care of the Evangelischen Kirchengemeinde Grosshartmannsdorf near Freiberg in Saxony, Germany. It has a big, bright sound, a quick response, is very flexible and works very well in the upper register. We recommend it for use on long trumpets and invention trumpets.

Romantic Trumpet Mouthpiece after Antoine Courtois

As part of our Courtois F piston/invention trumpet project, we have developed this copy of a Paresian mouthpiece by Antoine Courtois, ca. 1860, from the collection of Bruno Kampmann in Paris. With a big, full sound and great flexibility, it is well-matched to all Romantic French trumpets and is well-suited to playing in both high and low registers.

BELL OPTIONS FOR 3-HOLE TRUMPET

The instruments can be fitted with any or all of the bells listed below. To calculate the price of a corpus with a renaissance bell, the price of the standard bell (850.-) is subtracted from the price of the corpus (1455.-); the price of the desired bell or bells is then added to the resulting difference (i.e. 605.-).

When using the bell exchanging mechanism, the chosen bell is fastened with a screw which allows for a quick exchange, even in a concert situation.

The ball (CHF 220.-) is not included in the price of single bells.
